![]() Irbaan Primary School Opened in 2007 with the generosity of international donors. Irbaan School serves communities spread out over the vast Mara region. Hundreds of children in the area will benefit from a quality education. Key Requirements ![]() Where We Work - KenyaIrbaan Primary SchoolMasai Mara, Kenya Irbaan Primary School opened with three classrooms in November 2007 thanks to the generosity of international donors. But this is just a start. The school, which serves communities spread out for over the vast grasslands of the Mara region in Kenya, is still in need of ongoing support to provide a quality education to the hundreds of children in the area. More classrooms are needed to accommodate all the children and school supplies from textbooks to desks are in short supply. More teachers are needed, (including funding for salaries and accommodation), so that classroom sizes can be kept to a reasonable size and education standards maintained. Kitchen facilities need to be build and funding for a fresh water source and a hot lunch for children who walk as far as 7 kilometers each way (often on an empty stomach) just to get to school. Scholarship funding is needed for children too poor to afford the basics like uniforms and paper or for promising students to attend secondary school. A playground where children can be free to be children is also much needed. In addition, many ofthe local families cannot afford even the basic costs to send their children to school including uniforms, shoes and socks, basic supplies and their share of the community supported teachers’ salaries.
